The SDGs are overlapping and interrelated, and all are necessary for sustainable development. Yet we need focused interventions to fulfill them. ICLD’s overall goal is to increase citizen’s capacity to influence decisions that affect their lives. This means our interventions have a strong emphasis on the inclusion of marginalized groups, equitable political representation and strengthening local institutions in line with our core democratic values. This means that we keep a particular focus on SDGs 5, 10, 11, 16 and 17. But as all citizens’ lives are affected by all SDGs, it is important for us to ensure that our activities contribute positively to other SDGs as well, and most importantly that they do not negatively affect any other goal.
The following sections describe ICLD’s priority five goals and how we approach them.
Your ICLD project must contribute to one or several of these. It is also important to have an overview of the whole agenda, and to be able to identify how your project affects the rest of the goals.
