About ICLD’s project planning workbook

In the workbook, ICLD lays out a multi-step process for refelecting over problem complexity and using it to develop an action plan to tackle your chosen societal problem. The tool is designed to help you and your team strengthen key capabilities for tackling complex problems. The tool is focused on project planning and project management and is structured around a series of activities and exercises that should be carried out during your project planning.

Linking your project planning to participatory democracy

Read the introductory text of the workbook, and, as a team, conduct part 1 according to the instructions in the workbook.

Step 1: Is the societal issue you plan on addressing linked to a lack of participation of citizens/a group of citizens?

Step 2: Who are the citizens or groups of citizens not participating?

Step 3: What is the root cause of the this lack of participation?

Step 4: Assess your local governments readiness to strengthen participation.
