Human Rights Budget Poster

As a final exercise, we recommend you to illustrate in one page a Human Rights Budget of a local government of your choice. The aim of this exercise is to reflect on how the budget allocations in a local government are connected to different human rights. You are free to decide on how to make this assignment, but we recommend the following:

• Identify a local government of your preference. You can use the locality where you work, live or where you were able to find available information.
• Connect different budget items with human rights. This can be a difficult task. You are not required to connect all the budget items, but you can explore at least the right to health, education, and recreation.
• Reflect on what rights are prioritized in the budget? And what rights are not prioritized?
• Make a poster using infographics to illustrate own understanding of what a human rights budget must include.

Reflect on why you think it looks the way it does, and if using a human rights based approach can help uplift some rights that may be currently neglected.
